Schengen Visa Starting Checklist for Thai Nationals (2026)

A practical starting checklist for a Schengen visa application, with timing, routing rules and links to official sources.

Who generally needs a visa?

Thai ordinary passport holders generally need a short-stay visa for tourism in the Schengen Area. The area currently includes 29 countries. Confirm the current membership and the rules for your passport on the European Commission website.

When to apply

An application can generally be lodged up to six months before travel. The normal decision period is 15 calendar days and may extend to 45 days in individual cases. Appointment availability is separate, so start early and check the responsible consulate.

Where to apply

Apply at the embassy or consulate of the country where you will spend the most days. If spending equal time in multiple countries, apply at the embassy of your first country of entry into the Schengen Area.

Common supporting documents

Common items include a valid passport, application form, photograph, compliant travel medical insurance, evidence of accommodation and funds, and documents showing the purpose of the visit and intention to leave. Travel reservations or evidence of intended transport may be requested. The responsible consulate's checklist takes priority.

Avoid preventable inconsistencies

Missing documents, unclear purpose or conflicting dates can cause questions or delay. Make sure your form, insurance, accommodation, funding evidence and travel plan describe the same trip. Never describe a proposed document as a paid ticket or confirmed booking.

Before submitting

Use the exact current checklist from the responsible consulate or application centre. Verify the fee, appointment procedure and accepted format for each document. Flyvoro can help present a proposed itinerary, cover letter and daily plan, but it cannot determine eligibility or guarantee a decision.
